Hello everyone !
This is a small 6×8 inches canvas. It’s one I made some time back but I love this because of the colours and how the elements go together. The products are a mix of new as well as older ones which I have hoarded, a few Sizzix die-cuts which are evergreen like the Alterations Pocket Envelope, the Block Talk Lowercase and the Artful Arrows dies.
I prefer my backgrounds soft and with a finer texture compared to most mixed media work we see these days. It nicely balances the layers created by the other elements and, I feel, stops the project from looking cluttered and overworked. Colour, balance and proportion are very important to any design work, after which comes techniques. Techniques are great, they are very useful to know but getting fixated on too many especially on a single project is like missing the woods for the trees. I have to admit this is difficult to understand as much of it is about experience and developing a good design eye
The painted background is a wash of Distress Paints Broken China, Squeezed Lemonade and Picket Fence. An addition of randomly stamped grids using Archival Ink in Coffee completes it.
Idea-logy Remnant Rubs are great to use anywhere on mixed media projects !
Glitter paper or cardstock have been around for the longest time and they are getting a new lease in life as die cuts. A sheet of gold glitter is really too much but when you use them as die-cuts it really adds punch to the project. I LOVE the XL Bigz Block Talk dies !!
Thank you for stopping by.
