Hello Crafters ! Butterflies have got to be the prettiest and the most popular die designs in the world of die-cutting. Today I’m sharing a card made with Stephanie Barnard’s Butterfly Fold-Its, I totally love the intricate swirls of the main die in this 7 piece set. What’s good about this design : it’s really easy and quick to make when we need multiples of the same quickly or a card in 15 minutes *LOL!* for that unexpected occasion.
This set comes with 2 shadow dies, though I’ve used only one. I like the fact you can make variations of the Butterfly using the different combinations of dies.
The sentiment is from Mama Elephant and went perfectly with the Butterfly.
Other supplies :
Distress Oxides Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick.
Sentiment stamp : Mama Elephant
American Crafts Cardstock | Bristol Smooth Watercolour Paper.
Trim a white cardstock to 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches and die cut the Butterfly off to the left.
In this next step, with the shadow die, die cut the Butterfly using a Bristol Smooth Watercolour paper. This paper is perfect for Oxides techniques as the smooth surface really makes blending effortless !
Colour the shape with Oxides.

Run the intricate Butterfly piece through the Xyron Lite to get adhesive on the back. If you don’t have the Xyron, use any liquid adhesive with a fine nozzle to put little dots of glue behind the butterfly shape.
Press the Distress Oxide Butterfly shadow die-cut to the back, trim off the excess on the left. Complete the card front by mounting the butterfly panel on a yellow card base.
Heat emboss the sentiment on a left-over strip of paper colored with Oxides. Add a thin strip of glitter cardstock to the lower part of the sentiment, pop it up with foam. A few sparkly enamel dots or sequins …….. and you are done !
Imagine the endless color combinations of Butterfly cards you can make ? Hopefully this post will be the start of many more inspiring ideas for you, happy crafting !
