Hello Cardmakers it’s Aida here ! Never say it’s too early to start on your Christmas cards especially when we have such busy lives, which is the case in fast paced Singapore where I live.
Sizzix Lifestyle is based in the United Kingdom, manufacturing a number of dies by their own talented Designers and each time I get a shipment of these dies, it’s a huge thrill as they are beautiful. This time I am using 2 Thinlits sets they sent me and they are available on the Sizzix UK website :
Moroccan Tile by Samantha Barnett
I’ve made 2 cards in different colour combinations and they are fast, fairly easy to put together. This card is in a traditional Christmas colour of reds and greens.
Lately we’ve been seeing new, pretty colours for Christmas and in the Singapore (seriously the land of Malls !) it’s not unusual to see unexpected colour pairings as the Malls get their Christmas trimmings up. This icy blue and pink/mauve combination is very pretty !
You will need :
Distress Oxides | Distress Inks | a spritzer bottle | white cardstock and smooth Bristol watercolour paper | gold and silver glitter cardstock
Here are the simple steps to completing the cards.
Die cut the Moroccan Tile in Gold and Silver Glitter cardstock.
Colour a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Bristol smooth paper with Distress Oxides. Oxides tend to be very intense inks and I wanted a soft, washed effect which is achieved by using the inking tool and Distress Ink Picket Fence. When you are happy with the blending, spritz with water and dry with a heat tool.
Do the same with the other card this time using a more traditional Christmas colour set.
I ran the Moroccan Tile die-cuts through the Xyron to make sure the back of the intricate shape is properly glued. You can use a liquid adhesive with a fine nozzle, dotting the back of the die-cut with glue.
Position the die cuts and press them down on the card front.
To complete the cards, assemble on to white cardstock bases.
Not too difficult, as I promised you, and a really versatile design ! The sentiment in the front can be switched and it’s great for any occasion you have coming up like Birthdays or even a Get Well card for a friend feeling under the weather.
Much thanks for stopping by, happy crafting and may you be inspired everyday !
