Hello Crafters !
November is galloping past and we are into Christmas crafting. I don’t celebrate Christmas, though I do enjoy the festivities, the atmosphere and the amazing crafting products that fill Made With Love. This week I have a Merry and Bright Christmas Candy Box which can be used as a display filled with seasonal candy. The colours are traditional with reds and greens, the touches of mint wonderfully update the whole look. The Christmas Paper Stash by Tim Holtz is so pretty !
I made my own box using chipboard, but you can use any box you have or from Daiso.
Supplies are from Made With Love, right in the center of Orchard Road at 313 Somerset, one of the coolest places to be on that stretch.
The “It’s a Wonderful Life” stamp is by Mama Elephant and was embossed with Wendy Vechi’s Embossing Powder in Carnation Red. The Idea-ology Quote Chips are a great way to add messages to your projects and honestly, the pack has so many for you to use !
The Sizzix Lantern Box die was one I didn’t get to use last year and this time I’m so glad it found a place on this box. I love how the die-cut shapes came together and the layers make the box cover interesting.
Sizzix has introduced an Embossing Folder to the Layered Tattered Poinsettia, though for this box I opted to use only medium blooms in the die without any embossing. I made two sets of Poinsettias, with each having three layers and embellished with a Ideo-logy Jiggle Brad as the center. The Scroll die cuts in Bronze foil were tucked behind the blooms just to give it a little more ‘ooommph !”.
Don’t you love the Deer nestled it in between the Poinsettia and ribbon ? It’s one of the new Sizzix Thinlits Christmas releases by Tim Holtz titled Winter Wonderland. Look closely and you can see I used two deers adhered together with Foam Dots just to make it look more substantial and be able to take normal wear and tear of handling.
The new Tim Holtz Idea-ology Christmas Paper Stash has details you can cut out like this 25th Dec.
Die cut the lantern shape using a 180gm Mixed Media paper as it’s strong enough to take mediums. Paint it with Distress Tarnished Brass and dry completely. Scrape Grit Paste randomly, dry and again quickly swipe paint over the white paste. Assemble the lantern, then add more depth with any brown Distress Inks. The lantern was adhered onto a Idea-ology wood Finial to lift it up above the cover.
Tie a broad ribbon into a bow, glue it to the underside of the lantern. Take your time to add details to the box, this really is the part that’s most fun !
