Hello Crafters !
Sizzix Lifestyle generously sent me Halloween dies and the Feather and Raven set gave me ideas almost at once. There are so many ways to create Halloween cards and using paper embossed with Texture Fades, then layered with the Thinlits shape would make your card really interesting. We all love texture and dimension right ? Even better when it’s so EASY to do !
Grit Paste is my new favourite medium and for this, I’ve roughly smeared it over the Raven die-cut and inked on the colours. Touches of Antiqued Bronze on the edges give the shape more definition and subtle shimmer.
It’s no big secret I LOVE working with Embossing Folders and as you can see, the Damask design goes surprisingly well for a Halloween card.
Halloween Thin Words complete the card and this time I’ve inked the strip with Distress Oxides Black Soot and Seedless Preserve, with a quick rub of Antiqued Bronze Crayon over the top.
Other supplies : Distress Oxide :Iced Spruce, Black Soot, Seedless Preserves | Distress Ink : Tea Dye
Distress Crayon : Antiqued Bronze
Ranger : Grit Paste
I began by smearing the die-cuts with Grit Paste – no special tools needed, just use fingers …. Hahaha ! It dries pretty quickly and then daub the inks to colour the shapes, edge them with Antiqued Bronze Crayon.
Next rub Distress Oxide Iced Spruce on ONE side of the folder – I chose the bottom surface, the one with the raised design resulting in a “de-bossed” ink into the paper. If you are unsure, just experiment and either way you will have a very pretty piece to use.
Isn’t this gorgeous ? You can go one step further by rubbing Stickles into the grooves if you like.
Die-cut 2 Stitched Circles, ink for colour and glue the stack.
Die cut the Halloween title, assemble the card and you are done.
There are so many variations to this card idea and not just for Halloween …… how about for Christmas cards ? Time for you to go get a few Embossing Folders and have fun making cards.
We are almost to the weekend, I hope your week has been good so far. and thank you for joining me today !
